Shopping Local and Shopping Small

Untitled

My Dad started his own plumbing and heating company 30 years ago my husband later joined him and McGuire Plumbing and Heating LLC now supports not only my parents but it also supports our family as well. I can’t express the importance of shopping local and hiring local small businesses.

I’m sure you’ve seen many of my gift guide posts supporting AFTCRA. I understand that sometimes I am paying more for an item then I would pay at my local “chain” store or department store but I get to see a face that goes along with the seller. The product may come with a hand written thank you note or hand made business card. Maybe my purchase helped pay for music lessons, football cleats, or the next grocery bill. Take some time and look to buy local or from a small business when you can!

I recently got two candles from TW Home Essentials and I have to tell you I LOVE them! TW Home Essentials is out of Bridgeport, CT and they specialize in 100% natural soy candles. I got the Apple & Maple Bourbon and the Vanilla Coconut and I am really enjoying both of them. I am a huge apple scented candle fan and I can’t get enough of the Apple & Maple Bourbon candle. I encourage you to check out some of the candles! You won’t be sorry!

We all have dreams and many small businesses are regular people like you and I who have worked hard to make their dreams a reality. I try to remember that when I walk into my local salon, buy a product for AFTRCA or Easy, visit my local farmers market, stop at a craft sale, buy from a small online shop or visit any local or small business.

I would love to hear what some of your favorite small business are! Share your love for small business and leave a link or the name of your favorite places below in the comments so the rest of us can share the love!

HAPPY SHOPPING
